Class of 1975 Scholarship
Class of 1975 Scholarship
In Spring 2011, the Class of 1975 instituted a scholarship to benefit a graduating senior from Clearfield Area High School who plans to attend post-secondary school. The criteria for the scholarship are (1) high scholastic achievement; (2) contributions to the community or school through involvement in community or school activities, or employment; and (3) acceptance at a two-, three- or four-year post-secondary program. Financial need and relation to a classmate are taken into account, although they are not requirements for the scholarship.
Over the past four years, the Class of 1975 has awarded scholarships to six CAHS graduating seniors. At this spring’s CAHS awards assembly, Jonathan Lucas Stephens was the sixth recipient of this scholarship. Jonathan will attend Penn State, University Park campus, with a major in plant science. He plans to emphasize plant pathology in his studies. In 2014, the Class of 1975 increased the scholarship amount to $750. (It was $500. per recipient prior to that).
Morgan Gill was the first recipient of this scholarship in Spring 2011. Morgan enrolled at Penn State Altoona with a major in Business. Then in 2012, the class recognized and responded to seniors’ need for financial assistance with their college expenses by adding a second scholarship. The recipients in 2012 were Gabriel Ford and Beth Hipps. Gabe enrolled at Ohio State University in architecture and Beth enrolled at Penn State DuBois in engineering. In 2013, Brooke Luzier and Morgen Turner were the fourth and fifth recipients of this scholarship. Brooke enrolled in South Hills School of Business and Technology in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and Morgen attended St. Francis University. Then in 2014, the Class awarded the scholarship to Jonathan Stevens, who planned to study plant pathology at Penn State University, Main campus. In 2015, the Class awarded scholarships to 3 outstanding students: Noah Cline, Spencer Herrington, and Nicholas Hudson. Noah plans to major in biology with a focus in the Pre-Dental track; Spencer plans to study civil engineering and/or math; and Nicholas will major in business management You can see a photo of these outstanding students on the Photo Gallery page.
